Are you a  jazz fan in the San Francisco Bay Area? Then you can toast trumpeter-bandleader-educator Khalil Shaheen-- newly named  "Jazz Hero, Bay Area" by the JJA-- as you watch the JJA Jazz Awards live and celebrate with local jazz journalists, musicians and other listeners at a "satellite party" at the  Jazzschool for Music Study and Performance in downtown Berkeley, California on  Monday, June 14 from 12:30 to 3:30 PDT. It's free, it's open to the public, and it will be held simultaneously with the Jazz Awards ceremony and reception at City Winery in Manhattan.
