The Jazz Journalists Association has begun the process of selecting the winners of its 2016 Jazz Awards for music and journalism as well as the 2016 Jazz Heroes, honored for "aiding and abetting jazz" in local communities.
The winners of the 20th annual JJA Jazz Awards for musicianship will be announced on this site in May, 2016 and the honorees will receive their awards at public events in their locale through the summer and fall of 2016. Winners in the journalism categories will be announced in June. Local Jazz Heroes will be announced here in April.

2015 JJA Jazz Awards Winners Announced; June 16 Awards Gala Tickets On Sale
NEW YORK – The Jazz Journalists Association has announced winners in 32 categories of the 2015 JJA Jazz Awards celebrating musical excellence in calendar year 2014, and has also released details regarding its annual public Jazz Awards party, to be held at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City on Tuesday, June 16.

2015 Jazz Heroes Named
Two dozen "Jazz Heroes" -- activists of positive influence on their musical communities -- have been announced today by the Jazz Journalists Association, a non-profit organization of media professionals, in collaborations with grassroots organizations and supporters in 22 U.S. cities, launching JazzApril, the annual campaign celebrating local music people and scenes during Jazz Appreciation Month, culminating in International Jazz Day.

Nominations open for 2015 JJA Jazz Awards
The process of selecting this year's winners of the annual Jazz Journalists Association awards for jazz musicianship and jazz journalism has begun. The two hundred Professional Journalist members of the JJA can submit nominations until March 18 in the following categories:
