2012 JJA Photo of the Year Finalist Nominees Announced

The five finalist nominees for Photo of the Year-- one of forty awards to be conferred as part of the Jazz Journalist Association's 2012 Jazz Awards in jazz musicianship and journalism-- have been announced.
They are:

• Vijay Iyer, by Lena Adasheva
• Chick Corea, by Pavel Korbut
• Wadada Leo Smith, by Michael Jackson
• Esperanza Spalding, by Gulnara Khamatova
•  Carla Bley, by Patrick Hinely

JJA Professional Journalist Members selected these five finalists in a previous round of voting from among forty-five submissions that can be viewed below.  The winning Photo of the Year will be chosen during a final round vote that ends May 13 and the winner will be announced in June along with other JJA Jazz Awards winners.
