The gala party was a chance for the jazz world to meet and celebrate the 2014 winners of JJA awards for excellence in jazz journalism. Among these was the 2014 Lifetime Achievement in Jazz Journalism award to W Royal Stokes, presented by Gary Giddins. Josh Jackson of WBGO's The Checkout was m.c. Musical performances by
