WBGO's Josh Jackson to MC JJA Jazz Awards June 11 Gala


Josh Jackson, host of The Checkout on WBGO Jazz FM, will be the Master of Ceremonies as the Jazz Journalists Association presents its 2011 JJA Jazz Awards at a gala scheduled for June 11 1-5pm EDT at City Winery in New York City. The awards presentation will be live videostreamed and viewed simultaneously at satellite parties at various locations in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Jackson, 2010 recipient of the JJA's Willis Conover-Marian McPartland Award for Broadcasting, is WBGO's Special Projects Producer, blogger-in-chief and an unparalleled enthusiast for modern expressions in jazz.

 His program The Checkout is an hour-long music magazine also available as a podcast. The multimedia show features what’s new in the New York jazz scene. Jackson began his radio career at WWOZ in New Orleans, worked as a production assistant at American Routes, and moved to New York to become the associate producer of Jazz From Lincoln Center with Ed Bradley. Josh joined the WBGO team in 2001  has produced award-winning documentaries and more than 250 live concert recordings at WBGO.
